    Default can't use gmail accounts

    Hello everyone.

    I'm currently trying to use SugarCRM for the first time, and therefore used the Bitrock Installer to set it up, wich wokred out fine. The problem is that right now i'm trying to get some of the employers in my company to use the SugarCRM mail client, and since most of them use google accounts, i may have some authentication problems. Even though i marked the "SMTP authetication" option, my configuration still says i'm not using TLS (even though i read on a related page that it takes only that option to use TLS for google). My inbound mail settings were set up correctly, and the tests were successfull, yet i can't seem to send or receive any email from that google account.

    Can anyone help me on this? I need to do a presentation for this program soon...

    Thanks in advance

    Hi There!

    I've spent few hours for understanding how it works.
    So i can say that it is really works.

    when you are set upping "Inbound Email Settings" for user there is small text label "Show Advanced" and you just have to click on this link.
    After that you have to check Use SSL: check box.

    Thats all.

    Thank you,
    Petro Blagodir.

    Gmail inbound is fine, it's Gmail outbound that won't work for me. When you look at the email summary of an account you see a setting indicating if TLS is set or not, but when you click edit (4.5.1) there's no option to set TLS on, which is what Gmail needs to be able to send mail out. Does anyone know if there actually is a TLS option and where you select it, or was it put in there but never implemented.

    Folks,

    Not sure why Sugar is not able to use Gmail settings to fetch/send emails. Once it worked for me but after that it's not ramping up at all.

    I followed the steps mentioned here(for inbound settings): http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=158
    For outbound settings: http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=159

    Also make sure you have enabled pop and forwarding in your Gmail settings.

    Regards,

    Well, i tried all of those instructions as well, and came up with no results...so maybe it's not me, nor us. But since gmail is currently one of the most used public mail services in the world, i hope there will be an upgrade wich will correct this in the near future...

    add as smtp server inside your Sugar the server for outbound: ssl://smtp.gmail.com
    with the SSL will force phpmailer to take it.

    Then open the file class.phpmailer.php and comment out this line
    /* if(strstr($hosts[$index], ":"))
    list($host, $port) = explode(”:”, $hosts[$index]);
    else */

    I got it around line 540-541...
    and it works...
