    Arrow cascading change of ownership

    Please help !!!!

We're using SugarCRM Community Edition 6,0

We really love it but have an incredibly bothering problem, which is, in fact, quite ridiculous.

When we change the owner ship of a lead / contact / account
It does NOT change the ownership of associated elements.

Will past calls, meetings, etc. should remain assigned to the previous user for history purposes, we would really LOVE that the planned calls and meetings actually also change ownership.

This is so logical that I just can't believe it doesn't already work this way.

Can anyone let me know if we're doing something wrong, of if there is a plug-in that we could us to fix this bug?

Otherwise, we have to do it manually one by one, which takes AGES.

    Thank you

    It happens due historical purpose.
Old activities had been assigned to someone else, if they are automaticallyh assigned to the new assignee you may loose these important historical information.

But if you really want to do that you need to write a logic_hook before_save on the modules, look for all related records and update them.

But isn't possible just to change ownership for "planned" items, such has future calls and meetings ?

And a... logical loop... looks cool but I have totally no idea how to do it, I wouldn't be technically advanced enough to do that

so isn't there a plug-in that could do that perhaps ?

There are other valid reasons why one wouldn't want to automatically trickle down the ownership, even only for pending items.

For example, you might be my manager and have access to not only your records, but also mine and both of us might be scheduling activities for the same account. Assuming I am the owner of the record, but then leave the company and the record is changed to someone else, it is unlikely you'd want the system to reschedule everything to the new user as it would reschedule the items that belong to you as well, not just mine.

The fact one is not the owner doesn't automatically prevent someone from linking items to an account for example, as security roles factor in as well. Roles on their own can present a number of additional scenarios which would make it very convoluted and impractical. You'd need some way to define the rules under which such cascading would occur or it would quickly become a mess.

As far as I know, no such module exists.

Ok well I do fully understand the reason why this is no "automatic cascading" now.

But given my context, it'd make my life so much greater to have a way to do the following :

When I change the "assigned to" (ie : ownership) of a lead : all the planned events or calls get transfered to the new owner of the lead.

However, I'm not too good with technical stuff so unless one can provide a flawless point by point DIY, it won't be any help.

For info, I'm using Version 6.0.2 (Construction 4217)

Please help!!! It'd be greatly appreciated !!!
