Case Numbers not incrementing

I have SugarCRM 4.5 installed on a Win2k3 box with MSSQL 2005 server.
One of my users has just let me know, and I verified, that our case numbers are not incrementing.

I opened the table and tried to change the column type to increment, but the identity specification property won't change.

Any ideas how to get my case numbers to increment properly?

Is 'case_number' is set "auto_increment" in your sugar database's case table?

The Identitiy Specification is set to no and i can't change it so the is identity property won't change and the identity increment is not available.

How can these properties get changed?
