Default CE Version - Sales Tracking for Manufacturer's Rep firm

I am working on getting SugarCRM CE working for a small rep firm. We have gotten their customer data into the system and all seems well.

Now I am trying to get my head around Sales workflow. What we are hoping for is to have orders entered into the system so we can track/get reports on total sales by product line (we represent many lines). Since we are a rep firm, we do not invoice (well mostly). We just pass the orders on to the manufacturer for shipping and billing. Seems simple enough. But I am unsure how SugarCRM CE handles that or what modules would make sense.

Part of the problem is not completely understanding Sugar's terminology.

If anyone can shed some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Nothing? Just a directional pointer might be nice...

Depends what you mean by workflow ... CE has no native automated workflow ... but there are some forge modules that may help.

Please describe the business process you are trying to address in more detail and we may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for replying. Sorry for not jumping on this earlier. Seems I am not getting email notifications on replies.

As for workflow, that's one of the terminology things. That was my word.

What we have is simply this:

We take orders for product for some 20 manufacturers and forward the orders on to them. We are basically facilitators, their local sales force. We need to keep track of those orders for our customers, but we do not fulfill them directly.

So I want a sales person to be able to enter an order, then turn it into a pdf, then email it to our manufacturer. Then when the order is fulfilled by them, our sales or admin person would mark the items shipped or whatever and the order is closed.

We need to keep tabs on our customers and what they order, their purchase history and interaction with us.

    I hope that makes sense.

Unfortunately no. The project was put on indefinite hold.
