Default Changes to 'Convert Lead' layout?

I am trying to create custom fields that link between one module and another. For instance, when I create a new lead I would like to add the website address for the account, then when I convert this lead to a contact, pass that website address through to the account record.

I have achieved part of what I need by creating a custom website_c field in both the leads and accounts module. This does what I want. The only problem is that on the 'convert lead' screen the original website field from the accounts module is also there, so there are two website fields (one pre-filled with the information from the lead record, one blank). I know I can drop the original website field from all other views, but I see no way to edit the layout of this 'conversion' view.

Can someone please help? I am new to Sugar, know only a tiny little bit of mysql and absolutely no php, so please keep instructions as simple as possible!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, and thank you for getting back to me.

I did eventually find a way to sort this out, by simply removing the display of the standard field from the form. It was so long ago now I can't remember exactly which file I edited though. The only trouble is that every time I update sugar for a new release this 'fix' get's overwritten, so I've given up bothering.

Unfortunately this is one of a great number of things that we found we had to 'work around' with sugar, which means that the uptake of the system has been very poor. It seams unless you are a programmer who can modify sugar to suit your needs, or you are prepared to alter your business to suit the system, then sugar is not really as adaptable as it needs to be.
