    Default Changing user outbound email from SMTP to Sendmail

    I can't be crazy -- but, maybe I am.

    Under Admin - Email Settings - I have the outbound email configured as Sendmail (My hosting service suggest that I use sendmail instead of SMTP) If I log into sugar as Admin, click on Emails and compose an email, the email is sent fine. However, I notice that all of my users -- and when I add new users -- their outbound email the transfer is through SMTP and I am not able to change it to Sendmail. This is driving me nuts. There has got to be a way to change their setup so that they can send email using Sendmail.

    I at one time - before I moved Sugar over to my hosted service - ran sugar from my laptop and used SMTP as the transfer agent. But I changed it to Sendmail when I migrated over to the hosting service.

    Can someone PLEASE help. I would prefer to retain my sanity if at all possible.
    I recently upgraded from 5.5.2 to 5.5.4

    You're not crazy. This option has been removed and afaik there is no back door to get it back.

    Ouch. Well, good to know that I am not crazy. So, it sounds like, if I am using Sendmail as the transfer agent, I am out of luck if I want to use SugarCRM in a multi-user environment. Wow, given the cost of the licenses, I am glad that I found this out now before I kicked in for the licenses.

    I wonder what's wrong with smtp? Works fine everywhere including (most probably) your standard email accounts. Sendmail can be a bitch - I do not understand why a provider would recommend it.

    I will have to go back to them and see what their reasoning is. Long story short, I was having problems sending email from Sugar when I migrated over to the hosting and they suggested using Sendmail. Since it starting working with sendmail, I never really dug any deeper.

    But, I did notice one thing. One of the users that I have configured is showing an stmp server that is spelled wrong (I remember fat fingering the smtp server address under admin - email settings many moons ago and changed it accordingly. Why would that user still be showing the wrong smtp server address if it is not configured anywhere else? And, I can't change it to another smtp server.

    Strange. SMTP is pretty digital - either it works or it doesn't. Probably the general (system) one is used.
