    Question character problem

    sugar ce 5.1.0b
    mysql
    windows xp

    hi all,
    i'm having a problem with some characters e.g: ö ä å

I'ts all fine when i import characters like this, but when i export them, it looks like this å or ö or ä

It are swedish names, and i set the character set in sugar as utf8_swedish_ci, but unfortuanately it didn't solve the problem.

Could someone help me out on this.
    Thank you very much!

I think you didn't need to change database collation to utf8_swedish_ci.
I'm running sugarce 5.1.0b, mysql and windows xp and my sugar db tables have db collation = utf8_general_ci.
I went to some record and put those special characters. They displayed good. Then I tried to export data.
When viewing in Excel, these special characters are displayed incorrectly, but if I would open exported file in simple editor in utf8 encoding mode, then all characters are good.

Let me know whether it works OK with you as well from now.

    hi,
    thx for your reply.
problem is solved, at least, i have a workaround. somewhere on this forum i read about using openoffice.

I can change the character set when i open the .csv in openoffice, i select UTF-8 and save as .xls.

Then it's al fine, and i can edit and import again.
