Checking for Duplicates across Target Lists possible?

Hi.

I have created Target Lists with full sets of contacts.

I just got a great big database handed to me. These contacts are meant to be added under a different target list.

However, I know for a fact that at least some of the targets in the new list are duplicates of ones in the current target lists. I have no way of knowing how many there are though.

I would like to be able to import the new list and remove any duplicates from one target list or the other.

Is this possible? If so, how would it be done?

Essentially, I need to be able to check for duplicates so that I don't send the same email to someone 3 times because they're on 3 different target lists.

You can either execute some queries on database to identify duplicates on your Target Lists or create a simple php script to perform that action.
Do you have programming skills?

I don't have that skill myself, but I have co-workers who do programming. Can you give me a couple tips so I can go to them without any idea what I'm talking about?

Even though a contact is in 3 target lists he/she will only get one emaill per campaign (provided the email address is the same). This is a functionality that Sugar provides - no further deduplication required.

If you still want to perform deduplication look for tools like fuzzy dupe or similar. They are excellent and will do it in no time.
