Clueless on why tracker URL won't work

Good Day,

After reading for hours about tracker issues, I am still stumped with what it takes to make this feature work.

From within the email editor, the link has this hyperlink address.

http://192.168.1.50:81/Sugarcrm/%7BTRCG%7D

From the test email I send, I get this address.

"http://192.168.1.50:81/Sugarcrm/http:/localhost:81/Sugarcrm/index.php?entryPoint=campaign_trackerv2&track=a48a 94de-c2a4-4da1-3b17-495a59e8dd43&identifier=9f56254e-2b59-2455-cfcf-495a59d34254"

With the message "the page cannot be found"

I've read a reference to editing SugarTinyMCE, but that seems to be fairly old and does not appear to apply to the Sugar Community Edition 5.2 I am currently running.

Any suggestions to point me down the right path would be appreciated!

This can't work. 192.168.1.50 is an internal address and thus not known to anybody outside of your network.

You have basically two options - put the server on an accessible IP (one that can be resolved by a DNS) or you use port forwarding in order to connect your internal box with an accessible domain.

The gurus may pardon me but as far as I understood this means to set your Sugar url in config php to something like subdomain.company.com, internally point this url to your 192 address and all external requests to this subdomain (which must be registered) should be forwarded by your router/firewall to your 192 sugar box.

But I have to admit that I never did it so please ask a real expert.

I am having a similar issue with Tracker URL's when I create one and insert it into my campaign email template, the URL I am logged into is pre-pended to the tracker URL - however the url for the opt out and tracker image at the bottom of the email are correct based on the site URL from my config.php

Need to read up on the tracker URL because it sure doesn't seem like I need it - if I create an email template without a Tracker URL and test send it, I'm tracking when they are opened - I'm guessing because the ID guid is appended to the image URL...

Under certain circumstances it happens that the base url is inserted twice. I found (not an empirically confirmed observation) that this happens if an email template is opened and edited outside of a campaign (the editing does not start from within the marketing message).

You do not have to insert an opt-out link, Sugar will do that automatically. But since you do not see this automatically inserted link it does not give you a possibility to format it. If you do not want to have an opt out link then create one with the campaign but do not insert it into the template. Then there is NO opt out link.

I personally think that one has to be a bit more pragmatic here - it it doesn't work, who gives a d...? Put in a sentence that says: "If you do not want to receive..bla bla..send us an emnail with the word "optout" as subject".

As a Sugar Pro/Ent customer I wouldn't be that forgiving though. The product should work as advertised and paid for.
