    Default Company Agents

I have installed Sugar and have a question.
Our business has many > 1000 agents who sell through us. In the existing system I have a separate agents section.

I would like to replicate it and add some sugar sweetness. Here is what I would like:

1 - Agents have a login and can see their own portal. This should be easy, but if the company buys a license I don't want to pay for 1000 users if possible since they are not really employees.

    2. Do all the agents need to be employees? or can contacts be modified to allow them to see their own infomation.

I am a little confused on the best way to model this. I don't mind the work, I just don't know the internals good enough to make an intelligent decision.

    Thanks

As I understand it, and you can easily check by emailing Sugar's sales team, if you get the edition which comes with "Sugar Portal" (so basically not Community Edition) you can allow customers to access their own details and limited other information via the "sugar portal" (not to be confused with the portal option on the Community Edition which is not at all related!) This does not require a license for each portal user.

For example, if Sugar is installed in a University campus as a student administration system, the students may all access, edit and correct their own details via the portal, even though the University has only purchased licenses for the Student Administration department of 5 users.

Thanks, I will email and check with them.
The good thing is I can keep them as contacts.
