    Hi!
I have a connector on sugar Admin page.
    What it is good for?

A good question ... it connects to Social Networking sites like LinkedIn and slows down the rendering of any module for which it's enabled ... fluff (IMHO)

The slightly less curmudgeonly answer is that it allows you to search social networking sites such as LinkedIn to look for connections into your accounts that you may already have by virtue of your business or social network. For example, if I'm about to call on company XYZ, and I hover over the little "in" icon, it will tell me that I have n connections to company XYZ in my linked in network.

With Sugar Pro and Enterprise, there are additional connectors shipped with the product; you can pull in additional data about your leads by clicking on the "Get Data" button. This button lets you query all your connector data sources for information about the lead, and lets you smartly merge the data so you have a more complete view of that lead. For example, you can pull in a more complete account address if you only have a city in your data.

It's meant to be one more tool that sales people, not cranky IT guys , can use to help them discover more about their leads.

    Ms. Williams

I'm shocked and horrified that you find me curmudgeonly or cranky.

I thought I kept those defining traits well hidden, known only to my long suffering partner and children.

    On a more serious note:

We turned off the linkedin connector as it was proving more of an irritant than a useful feature. By predicating the page load time on the response of a remote external server, where users used to get near instant page loads, they were delayed by enough time to degrade the usefulness of the connector to zero.

And that's with one comnnector ... I'd be interested to hear from other users who might be running a few connectors.
