Contact duplicated when account is changed

Hi all,

I have Sugar set up for my organization and we have been using it primarily to manage contacts. One annoying thing that happens in Sugar is when my users go to an existing contact and change the account, the contact is duplicated when they export to a spreadsheet (so the contact appears only once in Sugar, but then upon Export there are two records -- one for both accounts).

This is very problematic as the spreadsheets are ultimately used for mailings. It becomes really difficult for users to remember which account/address is the most recent one. I've poked around here and found threads asking about this but no definitive working solution.

Does anyone have a fix for this going forward? Also, does anyone know if this has been fixed in Sugar 5.0 (we are currently running Sugar 4.5.0f).

Hello jennifleac,

I suppose your "export to spreadsheet" is taken directly from the database. Or which tool do you use?

If you change the link from a contact to an account, the old entry in table accounts_contacts is flagged with deleted=1 and an new record with deleted=0 is created in table accounts_contacts. The old record stays in database until the day the cows come home - or anybode deletes it by hand.

So every exporting tool should query this deleted flag in account_contacts to be 0.
