Default Contact fields from template not filled in when sending email

When sending an email to a Contact using a template, the fields in the template which refer to the Contact ($contact_salution and $contact_last_name) are not being filled in. They are left empty. This means our potential customers are receiving emails which look unfinished and unpersonal!

Strangely, the fields which refer to the current user ($contact_user_first_name, etc.) do work, so the salutation and contact details at the end of the email are filled in correctly.

What could be causing this behaviour? This is with the community edition version 5.1.0b, and using Firefox 3.0.4 on Windows.

    Hi,

pls. check if the email adress of the contact is used multiple times within your db. The fields are not filled if a email adress is more than once in the system.

Hope that helps - at least it helped me having the same issue.

Thanks for the hint. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the problem, most of the addresses only exist once in the database and still exhibits this problem.

Anything else it could be? Surely we're not the only one experiencing this problem?

    Kind regards,

I stand corrected! You were right, the problem is indeed that the email address was being used multiple times. I didn't notice that each email address is only stored once in the database and that there was an additional link table.

Is there any way of checking within SugarCRM whether an email address is being used multiple times? It's quite annoying, not knowing when you send an email whether or not the template fields are going to be filled in or not!
