    Default Contact Name Problem

I am running the latest version of SugarCRM. All my contacts that I set up have the user who is logged into the system as the name of the contact. For instance, Chad Ross is the user. The contact Howard Simpson would have the name Chad RossSimpson. When I log in as Don Hearn. The same contact has the name Don HearnSimpson. Any idea how I can fix this?

Have you looked at the database through a MySQL admin util such as phpMyAdmin or SQLyog in order to verify that the user name isn't actually stored in the database?

EDIT: Sorry, missed the part about the other user. Ignore my comment above...

Sounds like the views somehow got messed up. Did you modify the edit/detail layouts recently? Login as admin, go to Studio and verify that contact fields don't have an extraneous field attached on the layout.

Thank you for your assistance. However, the Name is not a field in the Contacts. Contacts has the Fields first name and last name, but it does not have a field with the two together. The name field I refer to is the field used when you click on the contacts tab you see name, title, account name.

I could not find the name tab in the studio to verify this.

Do you know how I can locate the setup for this field in the studio.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Ok, you are referring to the ListView.

Access Studio and edit layouts for the Contacts module. You should see an entry for ListView.

Try removing the existing fields except for one of them, save and deploy. Check your contacts to see if the problem persists.

If it doesn't, go back to Studio, edit the contacts ListView layout again and add the rest of the fields. Save and deploy, then check the contacts list again.

this was helpful. It did not fix the problem but I can just remove this field to hide the problem. However, I would like to solve the issue. I removed the name field, saved it, and the added it back. Same problem. I also noticed that the name field in the leads tab has the same problem. I tried the same process and still have the problem.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Brian
