How can i get my contacts to inherrit the related accounts team and user? only for creation and not for changes afterwards?

Paul ... is there not a forum for Pro users? ... this question does not relate to Community Edition. Not being dog in a manger ... from our perspective, we focus on CE and the modules in SugarForge ... not on Pro functionality ... so it's harder to assist

You can implement that as work flow feature.
On Create Contact fill in team_id and assigned_user_id with the values from related Account record.

Andopes as again your answers are helpfull.
I want to do away with the workflow function as i have other clients that do not use the pro version.
I think a logical hook in stead of a mysql stored procedure or trigger.

This is a help forum. for sugar. if you come up with a clever answer, solution that could both help the pro and ce for something like this, as there is a ce teams module. and assigned user in opensource as well.

So by giving the type of answeres you give does not help at all. Just some positive critisism from me to you.

In workflow there is no option for this. so it looks like it has to be logic hook or trigger.
As through workflow you get options like user assigned to triggered record,last modified, created triggered record.logged in user.

Sugar is still struggling fro version 4.5 to get workflow to update a field from another fields value as well as calculated fields. Might come after 5.5 though?

My answer was meant to be helpful. I'm sorry if you saw it otherwise. I was suggesting that you would get more help with regard to Pro questions in the Pro forum. I said that we could not assist and explained the reason why. Your "positive criticism" seems misguided

My point was just in forum we help not show away. So how do you do it in ce then.??

In the SecuritySuite module for CE I do this basically by using an after_save hook. The hook iterates through all the relate fields in the module to get the teams assigned to the parent record and then assigns those teams to the newly created record.
