Could not connect to server localhost as root

Hello
I have installed sugarcr5.2.k on the linux server. I was able to run the application smoothly. Suddenly I am being displayed with the following error:-"Could not connect to server localhost as root.Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/sugarcrm-5.2.0k/mysql/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)". I have restarted my services still I cannot get back to my application. Can any one give there valuable suggestions? I have not changed anything in the configuration files. Please do give your valuable suggestions.


Operating System:- Linux
Sugarcrm VErsion:- 5.2.k CE
PHP :- 5.2
MySql :- 5.2
Apachee:- 5

It seems as if the socket it is trying to connect through is wrong.

Can you connect to mysqld from the command line using the mysql command?
If so look for mysql.sock in your config files and make sure it has an absolute path of /tmp/mysql.sock

If all of that fails try changing localhost in your config.php to 127.0.0.1
