Could not connect to server localhost as root.Can't connect to MySQL server on 'local

Hi

I've benn using SugarCRM for one Year and everything was fine till the change of motherboard. Rest of components are the same.

After installing new motherboard i have run my system (Windows XP SP2). After first run everything was warking just fine.
When hard reset was done (hard reset becouse of by my pal he steps on the cable and turns off computer). I've turn my computer and when i am trying to connect im getting error message.

Could not connect to server localhost as root.Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061).

Even when im trying to stop MySql service im getting error message:

can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' <10061>'

when im doing:

telnet localhost 8080 - cannot connect

Does anybody knows how to fix this.

Sounds like you may have corrupted a file.

Have you tried connecting via a tool like phpmyadmin (linux) or whatever is available for windows?
Also use your mysqladmin tool, there is a way (forgot the command) to access the mysql DB without the password. Do a yahoo search for reseting mysql admin password. Should find instruction for this.

I would suspect the User table in mysql is contaminated. Is it possible to blow away the DB and start over?

BTW, before messing around, You have a good backup right? You have a recent backup from before the hard reset right? If so backup the current mysql files just to be safe and copy the backup files over the current.

Try to reconnect again.

What file was corrupted? Was it the MySQL install? Database? How did you fix it?
