    Unhappy Create Account buttons. etc

    Currently in SugarCRM a default has been set up to allow the addition of new accounts from the contact window as "Create Account". I created two additional drop down boxes that feed into the contact form that allows you to select multiple names from either list. The problem I am having is I need to have the option to create a new criteria for either list. Example I used is department - when I select department from the dropdown in my contacts I am given a list of names I created in studio module, but I need to allow the end user the option to create a new department. I think this is all done from Quick Create, but I cant get it to work correctly when I set up or modify a new contact. The additional fields I created (Department & Division) should function the same way the Account name field by allowing the creation of a new (Department or Division) as Account name...

    Do you really need to let the user create, for example, new 'Departments'? It opens a great possibility to duplicates and/or wrong data. Anyway, you can, alternatively, transform Department into a relate field and create a module for it. But you need to carefully avail if it is really necessary or if can you can make a solution upgrade-safer.

    I agree with you in the sense of duplicates since there is no logic built in to check if I already have a particular department set up prior to creating a new one. My boss posed the question and has me researching the option since it is an option that is available when setting up a Contact and linking him to an Account (that you can also set up a new account). This approach found in the intial Contact setup was why he posed the question, "Can we ad logic to configure within the selection of Department & Division a create new button"

    FYI:
    I currently have both of them set up as a modules and I need to set them up to appear as a quick create when adding a new Contact when I select there drop down box. As of right now the only one that show you a create new is the Account drop down box with my contact Edit view:
