    Default Create Alert to Send to a Custom Recipient Field

    My goal is to create an alert that is triggered by a change to a target module. I would like to send the alert to a custom email field that I have added to the module.

    The problem is that the custom fields do not show up in the drop down when I try to choose custom email recipient in the alerts. Is there any way to add custom fields so I can use them in my workflow definitions and alerts without custom coding the logic hooks?

    I am using SugarCRM Professional version 5.2.

    Hello,

    What module are you trying to do this for? I tested this out using the Accounts module and a custom text field and you should be able to do this. Create the workflow alert section. Then click on the 'Create' button to add the recipient list. Select the option 'Recipient associated with the target module'. On the next screen, check off the 'Select custom email and name fields'. Now click on the 'field' link. Your custom field should appear in the dropdown (mine was all the way at the bottom). Select it and click save. Then select a name field (this is a related name of the person you are sending the email to--could be the same custom field you created if you don't have anything else) and the 'using address' field (To)

    Thank you for your reply. I tried exactly what you did for the accounts module and it worked, but I have not been able to do it with the "Project Tasks" module.

    The idea would be to assign tasks for particular projects to contacts and notify them via email when The task is assigned.

    I have gotten it to work with a custom text field now, but I can not get a custom relate field to show up in the list.
