Create permissions

I am new to Sugar and currently testing its functionality.

I need to be able to limit access for certain users of the system. I have explored and experimented with Roles and can do most things but for some reason cannot restrict users from creating new records in certain modules. For example I don't want certain users to be able to create new accounts or contacts but are happy for them to list, view, edit (not delete) and generally work within the accounts and contacts modules.

Is there a special area where you manage create permissions ?

See the Install Admin Guide section on Roles. If you don't have the Install Admin Guide, you can open and download it from the Admin panel.

There is no specific Create permission, but I assume if you turn off the Edit permission, then it will also turn off the Create Permission. I haven't tried this.

Basicallly you need to define a Role that removes the Edit permission, then set the user to have that role.

Yes, I had read the manual and tried that approach and it removes the create option which is good but I was trying to remove create but maintain edit options. Typically roles provide individual CRUD control so I was surprised to see edit but no create options. Obviously in the pipeline or something that would need to be coded ?

SugarCRM does not differ create and edit.
