Create user from contact or Lead

We are a non-profit organisation and have recently sugarcrm OS.

Wanted to know if there is a way, we can convert Lead to a User.
Even if it can be done in a 3-step process Lead---> Contact--> User, we're fine with it.

I'm curious to understand the business reasons behind this... what is the scenario you're trying to achieve? In other words, why the need to create a user in this manner?

Frankly, we need to register members (volunteers) for the organisation (NPO).

So, there will be campaign, which will give us leads via Webform.
Now if we can convert these leads to users, it will be easier for us.

The only other way is to manually create a user for each and every member, which at times is quite large to handle. Also, we want to minimize manual input and also in turn manual errors.

A small module may also do the trick where you need a php script to copy data to a custom "create user form" assign a password and done.
