Creating groups of contacts

Hi. Newbie here.

I'd like to create groups of contacts. For example, pre-selected contacts to send a group e-mail to; This might be my clients who have expressed an interest in something that I want to send an event invitation or newsletter to.

How to do this doesn't seem obvious however. Am I missing something or perhaps using the wrong terminology.

For this purpose you can use the built in Campaigns module.
