    Default Creating an Opportunity without Assigning an Account?

    How do I create a opportunity without associating an account?

    Ideally we are trying to set up:
    New Lead Comes in - Define interest/call back
    Create Opportunity - If we send them a proposal they become an opportunity.
    Create Account - if they buy our product shouldn't they now become an account?

    How do you guys keep track of your existing customers vs potential customers?

    Hi 3z3k3l, an opportunity requires an account in Sugar. It's in the account record where things like the company's address and URL, etc., are stored. These things are useful even if you're working the opportunity (i.e., not sold yet).

    How can we easily differentiate between a Lead, and Opportunity, and an actual Customer
    (Someone who has purchased our software)

    We want to be able to see easily who is a potential sale vs who has purchased, at least in a TAB...to keep track of who is who.

    Right now the only way is to look up the status of the Opportunity.

    Would the Account Type field suffice for this? 'Prospect' and 'Customer'?
