Default Creating segments that can be used as mailing lists

We're new to Sugar Open source but plan to use it to create newsletter campaigns based on consumer interest and transactional history.

Before this data is imported into Sugar (from four existing data-bases) we intend de-duplicating in a holding data-base and attaching a relevent segmentation flag based on their interests.

I've added these segments as checkboxes to the leads module (in basic and advanced searches) and we've tested importing based on these flags - and everything works fine.

Each segment is in the between 5000 and 20,000 records.

How do we make these segments available in the campaign module so that mailing lists can ber created from them?

Any help would be much appreciated

Watching the SugarCRM screencast on email campaigns it would appear that the Reporting module in Sugar Professional would provide the ability to achieve what you are after.

It is also possible that the Power Prospecting module (search for it on SugarForge) would also be able to achieve this.

If you have a classification within the module you want to send emails from (e.g. contacts) then you are ok with power prospecting as Scott says.
PP will add one field to your mass update panel named "target list". So you should create an empty target list first (in the campaign module) then run a query in contacts based on your criteria, mark the entire list (at the top of the list), choose your target list in the mass update panel and press update.

It gets a bit trickier if you need to combine selection criteria from two modules (contacts from companies within a certain industry). Here a combination of Power Prospecting and Enhanced Search delivers excellent results.
