Default Cross referencing fields in list view

Operating system type and version: Free bsd shared hosting by ISP
» Sugar Suite version : Community edition 5.0.0f(3338)
» Webserver type and version: Apache 2.2.9
    » PHP version 5.2.6
    » MySQL server version 5.1

I am new to SugarCRM and am trying to use the Studio to amend some of the layouts.
What I want to do is add a new field to the list view of Tasks which cross references to another field in the Leads List.

I have created a new field and used the same label name as the field I want to display from the Leads field list.
I have added this field to the list layout of the Tasks which produces a field but does not populate it with the information from the Leads field.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

I have tried using the Data Type: relate when creating the new field and using the system label of the field I am trying to include in the list and selected the Module: lead.

Should this cross reference to the field in the lead module and populate the data?
