Using Sugar community 5.0.0f.

We have added an account field as a custom field in "Opportunites" - this filed contains the agent/partner account for this specific opportunity. The name of the agent/partner is saved but now the problem starts...

In the advanced search in opportunites we would like to do two things:
1, Sort on this agent/partner field
2, Search on all opportunites that belows to one partner/agent

Result:
1, We have made changes so the column agent/partner can be sorted (arrows is visible) - but the sorting is more or less random! Do we need to make any other changes here?
2, If we in advanced search put in a account in in the agent/partner field - we do not find anything at all!

We also have an ODBC connection in excel to the database an dwhen we look at the opportunities with the agent/partner field this column only shows numbers (references?) no actual names of the account. Have we done anything wrong in the setup of the custom field?
