custom data fields in relationships

Hi,
hope you'll be able to help us...

I need to create a bunch of relations that require additional, custom field(s) to be stored in them
for example percent share relation between multiple objects...
in another words I need to create relations that will have among all ids and indexes:
- main_object_id // 'parent' object
- related_object_id // 'related' object
- percent_share // custom input field to store in relation while creating it

many main_object_id may relate to same related_object_id...

Question one is where to configure the form to add such relation - for most of objects we use QuickCreate mode only as they don't need 'own' screens and edit/list options

secondly I will need to validate (somewhere) whether we have not reached yet 100% of total shares for each related_object_id so editor will have to reduce current shares for previously related objects before new share may be added - question is where to perform such check

I bet it's needless to say I'm quite new to sugar
Yet, any constructive reply wouldl be much appreciated
