Custom Field Check box not defaulting to 'not checked'

I've created a custom field in the the Opertunities Mod and it (a) will not default to not checked and (b) when I go into Edit Mode and 'uncheck' it and save in a given Opertunity it reverts to 'Checked' in view mode and shows as checked if I go back to Edit Mode. Need it to default as unchecked and obviously keep the seleted state when it is changed. thx cs

Go to Studio -> Edit custom fields -> View Custom Fields

Now click on your custom field and in the window that pops up, check the default status of your field there.

If its checked then, uncheck it.

I am having the exact same problem. Since all my custom fields are set up as mass edits, the default view not being blank isn't a big deal - but not being able to edit them IS! What version are we talking about? I'm using 4.5.1b. Anyone have any advice?
