Default Custom field not showing in module

I am new at this but have had some success before in changing my Documents List. I thought I could see how to create a custom field for the Create Document window, but then how do I get it to show up when I create a document? I have all these weird custom fields created in the custom fields list (from my testing it) but they do not show up on the available list for that module nor in the module itself. Help?

    Hi, robinsan.
After creating the custom fields you have to insert these one into layout, like EditView, DetailView, LIstView, BasicSearch and AdvancedSearch.

In the Studio there are link to them.
After modifying the layout, click into "Save & Deploy" button.

I'm also having this problem. I've created custom fields for use in the Contacts module, and try as I might, I can't seem to get any changes I make to the various Views to stick. For instance, I try to add my custom fields to the Edit view, but even though I save/deploy, whenever I go to the actual form, the fields aren't showing up. And then when I go to try to edit the Edit View, the custom fields have dissappeared again.

    Anyone have any tips?

If you want to use the studio yous hould use it with firefox instead of IE.
Sometime IE has problems with the deploy function.
    Just try it with firefox.

Firefox can also have problems, so IE might be preferred. I know that when I'm trying to edit an Alert email template, the WYSIWYG editor refuses to load in Firefox, and only works in IE

Unfortunately, I've tried IE7, IE8 (beta), and Firefox. The Studio module doesn't even run in IE7 or 8, aand in firefox, the changes to forms don't save. Is there any way for me to change this manually from the DB side?

I cannot belief that ALL these browsers can not write the chnaged panels.
I think this MUST be an issue of rights.
Please check whether the webserver is allowed to write to the directories of sugar (in UNIX: chmod 775).

Just check your permissions if things disappear when you click on "Save and Deploy". Check and ensure that permissions for all folders in your sugar installation directory under custom/working/modules are all 755. Once this is changed, things worked for me.
