Default Custom fields and convert lead

    Hi Guys,

I have a situation that I really need to rectify and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

I have about 15 or so custom fields that we track with our leads.
These record a leads potential for each of our products and is invaluable when determining the suitability of a lead.

I have added all these custom fields through studio in to the leads view and edit screens as well as put them in the advanced search.

    All works really well.

It falls appart when I went to try and add them into accounts so that a converted lead can still track the suitability.

The custom fields added into the leads module are not available in the Accounts module in studio.

Surely I cant be the only person that needs to have custom fields in leads and accounts and have them transferred over on converting a lead?

If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears.

    thanks

    I agree -
Retaining custom fields when converting from from Lead to Account/Contact seems like a function most users would appreciate. There are many types of data that you'd want to gather from a lead and then keep when they converted.

Unhappy Re: Custom fields and convert lead

Hmmmm....so this seems to be an issue --- the data does not carry over ---- it can't be transferred? This is the opposite of the problem that I am having

Hey, I am pulling data in from a CSV into the leads tab --

Created custom lead fields for the mapping process, but after the import only
the Sugar standard fields are there. Do I need to alter the Lead Tab with the new
fields also? That seems like a lot of work (inputting the custom fields for the import) and
then the data not showing up. Where did I go wrong???????

Hello - is there any update to this? Is it true that the Lead Conversion process does not handle custom fields? I'm using 4.5.1 Pro. Thanks for your time.

    AScott,

As far as I know, the 4.5.1 release does not cover this functionality. I was interested in this as well, and personally spoke to Andy Dreisch and he told me that this was something that was on theri 'wish list' but that it kept getting pushed down the priority list. Maybe if we make enough noise they will tackle this for their next release.

Maybe they would listen to you a little more, being that you are running Pro. We are running OS here. So I don't probably have much 'sway'.

So if I understand this correctly, there is no way to get the custom fields that we set up in leads to convert to accounts? How does that make sense if everyone is customizing sugar to do what they need?

Well I have 4.5.1 and I've gotten this to work. The trouble is that I can't remember how I did it!

I remember that I created the same custom field (same db name and display name) in both leads and accounts. Now that I'm trying to it again, I can't figure out how I got the fields to show up in the convert lead screen.

EDIT: I figured it out. Set "Duplicate Merge" to "Yes"

I am having trouble finding that setting. Can you give a more thorough explanation of exactly what we need to do?

    Thanks!
