Question Custom Fields Not Saving?? (Pro 4.2.0d)

    Hey everyone..

Having a problem with custom fields. Here is what I'm trying to do.... In the Contracts module, I'm trying to add two fields called Total Profit and Yearly Profit. Both are defined as Decimal/6. I've tried required and non-required.

I've been able to add the fields to the edit layout, and can then input the data. When I save it, then go back to edit again, there is nothing in these fields.

    What am I doing wrong??

    TIA
    Rick

This happened to me, and someone suggested checking permissions in the sugarcrm/custom directory. Make sure these are r/w. Worked for me.

My custom directory has drwxr-xr-x permissions. Updating things like layouts, etc seems to be working, but the actual data in the custom fields does not appear to be saving.

    Any other ideas??

I also had a similar problem.

Seems that the MYSQL user did not have rights to modify the table structure.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

I am having this same problem and desperately need help.

Custom fields data will not save. Drop downs and normal text area fields do not save.

However data is saved when creating a new contact? I have created some 10-15 custome fields and they ALL work when entering data to create a new contact. However once the contact is created, the custom fields no longer retain data....

    What is going on here??

    Thanks.

Same here: I can add custom feilds but I cannot save any data to them. My permissions are fine. I've been stuck on this for a week. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I also am having this issue. All of the custom fields that have been made simply do not work I can add data to them but not retrieve the values. All permissions are read, write, execute and the user has full permissions for MySQL granted. Help!!!!!! please

I'm also having a similar problem.

I've added several custom fields to Employee\DetailView. I have not updated the Employee\EditView component. I've loaded the custom fields data into the database and confirmed that it's there. However, when I attempt to view the data nothing is displayed.

    [Edit]

I've updated the Employee\EditView component now and the problem still exists, as expected.

I suspect that this problem may be specific to the Employee module To verify this I added custom fields to the Leads module and I was able to edit them. I also added some data to the database manually to see if it would be visible and it was. My conclusion is that something in the Employee module is causing the problem.

This is happening all over sugar. If I add a field that was not already in Sugar custom modules as well as current modules, the data is not saved. I disagree that it is just in the Employee Module

I have had it happen to me twice, both times it occured after I imported data into the sugar tables. Everything was working fine until then, and I'd rather not have to rebuild my custom fields again.
