    Default Custom fields not showing in Edit View after being added

    OS = Ubuntu Linux 6.06.1
    Sugar Suite = 6.5.0g & 6.5.1b
    Webserver = Apache 2.0.55
    PHP = 5.1.2
    MySQL = 5.0.22

    Problem:

    In Studio > Edit a Module > Opportunities I added two (text) custom fields, placed them via the Layout tool and Saved & Published the updated Module. That done when I view an Opportunity the two custom fields appear in the Detail view where I placed them but when I click Edit so I can add/manage the data in these fields they do not appear in the Edit view.

    I read a lengthy posting from end-DEC06 on this subject and tried one of the proposed fixes - chmod the SugarCRM directory - but this has not fixed the problem. In the end this posting concluded that Studio doesn't work for what I'm trying to do and suggested manually importing/managing the data; a solution I don't find appealing as it negatively impacts the productivity I'm trying to achieve by using a CRM in the first place. Bottom line, wanted to repost this topic to see if anyone knows of a way to fix this problem? Thanks!

    Hi!

    Probably you have added custom fields only to DetailView.

    Please goto Studio > Edit a Module > Opportunities
    and click on link 'EditView'

    and add your Fields again.
    Hope it will help you.

    I also have a similar kind of problem. But when i try to add the field in the edit view by dragging the field from left menu, no field is created in the layout area. The same field was created successfuly in the detail view and i hit save and save&publish.

    I'm not sure if it's the similar problem I used to have. I found out that my problem was because of the OS permission setting. The permission can be check by going to Admin > Upgrade Wizard > Click "Next" once and Sugar will check the permission setting for you. The cache directory permission setting were bad in my case.

    The directories that were bad for me are:
    /var/www/html/sugar/cache/dynamic_fields/modules.php 0644 root root
    /var/www/html/sugar/cache/dynamic_fields/Leads/fields.php 0644 root root
    /var/www/html/sugar/cache/dynamic_fields/Leads 0755 root root
    /var/www/html/sugar/cache/dynamic_fields 0755 root root
