Hi Guys, Is it possible to create a custom PHP script which will display on the main page IE in the same sort of area as the users name?

Many things are possible and this is definitely one of them, however, doing so would most likely require you to make changes to core code, which is generally frowned upon. Reason being, when an upgrade to Sugar rolls around, you'll need to manually re-incorporate your changes again, as they will be lost in the upgrade process.
