Custom Script - Send Email after Saving Opportunity

Dear All,

I'm working on a custom script which will send email to related contact (Opportunity) after saving new opportunity. I seek suggestion/comments on following work flow:

1) Under contact module, creating new opportunity and email will be sent after saving the opportunity

2) Under opportunity module, after saving new opportunity, after creating/selecting contact, email will be sent


Which work flow is workable and practical
