    Default Customers vs. Retail Customers

We are a Manufacturer and handle direct channel sales as well as Retail channels.

I am new to CRM and I am trying to understand how I distinguish normal customers (with typical issues like product warrenty and special promotion offers) and retail customers who would actually have an account with us.

I have an excel spread sheet of 1600 customers and I want to import them into Sugar, but I just wnat to make sure that I am classifying them correctly. Would they be under accounts or Contacts... or neither?

Does Sugar allow you to identify between retail and private customers?

If we are doing a Direct sales campaign we wouldn't want to target our retal accounts. Likewise, if we are focusing on a Retail campaign we wouldn't want direct channel customers recieving that info.

If anyone could help direct me in how to handle different types of customers that would be great!

    Thank you for your time!

Set up both as accounts - but either use one of the existing fields like type - editing the dropdown as appropriate -
or create a custom field with a custom dropdown in a ccounts to determine the type.
