Question customised edit view wont display

    Hi,
    I'm having a really weird problem with my sugarcrm - Version 4.5.0b (Build 1144) running on a win2k3 server - IIS 6.0.
    PHP Version 4.3.9

When I go into studio, I make changes to the detailed view and edit view of the leads and accounts pages and click 'save and publish'.

When I go back to the leads or accounts tab, the custom detailed view shows up, but when I click on Edit to make changes, the view that appears is the default view, not the customised version.

Do I some permissions errors? I dont get why the detailed view works, but not the edit view.

    Thanks.

PS. If your response involves telling me to switch to Linux, you needed bother replying.

Just a quick one - when you said you did 'save and publish' - did you do it for both views? I'm assuming you might have thought it saved and published all changes, but it only does it for the view you are editing.

To check - navigate to the modules/Accounts folder and check the date/time and contents of the EditView.html file - this should contain the new version.

If that looks OK - also make sure you've refreshed edit view in the browser just to make sure too.

Cool Re: customised edit view wont display

    you needed bother replying.
You're right, I shouldn't even be spending my valuable time even saying this much:

    Linux? roflmao

Okay, seriously now, 450b is actually the only stable/problem free edition/copy of Sugar in our case.. Though we've still yet to get to editing 450d patch to be compatible with our deployments. So, again 450b is the only version that Studio runs perfectly, under.
(in english, I'm kinda saying something like, you've chosen the right version to try to get it [studio] working under)

And since you apparently disagree with goal oriented method of solutions.. lol
on the flip side of that coin sometime my solutions do have a negative side effect!
    Oh yes they do...

Job security baby! When things are fixed, working, and never break... well.... we're outta work, there goes our job security, eh?
Quite a conundrum.... only wish I had a solution to it...

Back on track, you apparently read far enough in other threads to come across my 'try runni g it under linux, even if at a whoppin $10/mo expense', in which you disagree with.

My whole purpose in posting this time was to suggest you read those posts and threads to their end if you haven't...

I did get into some very specific details in regards to tackling the problem.

If you have read those posts, and still are dead in the water, then you will need to post alot more very specific details and findings, along with the results of everything I've directed Justin to do, BEFORE myself let alone anyone else can begin to try and help you..

A mechanic in order to fix a car, needs more info from the owner than just "my cars broken, how do I fix it?"
A mechanic needs to know what's broken, what doesn't work, when, why, how, etc..

    -------------
"I dont get why the detailed view works, but not the edit view."
And this statement leads me to believe that you didn't read my other posts, as I do recall essentially posting the awnser/how to address this, in those posts.

Tell ya what, I won't bother cluterring your thread with my unwelcomed help anymore..

I suppose that I'm now kinda sorry to have waste my time typing this, I sure can't help anyone that closed minded..
To stop reading a thread once ya reach an awnser you don't like... you only deprived yourself..

    good luck,

Yeah I saved and published for both, thanks.

The DetailView.html file's modified timestamp changes when i 'save & publish', but the EditView doesn't change from the original file. Permissions are the same for each file.

Is this a new 4.5 installation or upgrade? If the latter, did you run the upgrade studio files script under the admin repair tools?
