dashlet edit - "there was an error handling your request"

on sugar 4.5.1 when i try to edit a dashlet, i get a "error handling your request" error, rather than the ajaxy popup that allows you to edit the fields displayed.

however, from the same box, i can edit the dashlets in sugar 5.0.0.b (hosted on the same server..)

has anyone got any hints or ideas as to why this is happening.

i'm using ubuntu on the client desktop end. ubuntu server edition on the sugar side.

I had that problem once in the past when i had a conflict with a javascript file from another module, did you install any additional module in 4.5?

Maybe firebug can point you in the right direction?
