    Default Database Configuration Fails (Step3)

    Hi,

    I'm running PHP 5.2.2, MySQL 5.0.21 and Windows 2003 with IIS6.

I cannot get past the Database Configuration Screen. The error I keep on getting says "Database admin user name and/or password is invalid (Error 1043: Bad handshake)."

The admin username and password is the root account and the account works just fine via phpMyAdmin or the mysql command line.

    Can anyone help ?

    Thanx !

While installing, did you CHECK the option " is a privileged user" ?

    Try checking this option.
Because root is a very privileged user!

i dont think this is my problem. i've set my phpmyading installation to work with php5.2.2 and since this i cannot log into mysql anymore.

so it seems like an issue between php5.2.2 and mysql

    any ideas?

this issue was due to the libmysql on my machine being that of either unsupported format or corrupted for some reason.

i replaced it and voila! php5.2.2 and mysql are now friends.
