    Default Dead Top Navigation Bar

    Version 6.2.1 (Build 6405)

    Not sure ow else to explain it, but the top navigation bar (the blue one, Sales, Marketing, Support, Activities, Collaboration, All) isn't working. None of the buttons work. They all ink to the same address (http://www.mysite.com/sugar/#) which of course does nothing. If I type the direct address to the module it will go there, but the buttons are dead.

    I didn't do any changes to the modules, nor to the themes/styles. This was working before, now it's not.

    Any ideas? Thanks guys.

    Anything must have been changed on your system that causes this problem. Sugar update? New browser release? Access rights to sugar directories/files changed? etc. Any idea?

    Unhappy Re: Dead Top Navigation Bar

    That's very interesting since:

    Nice to know that I'm not alone.
    As far as I tracked it down, I'd say it's either a corrupt file or a permission problem.

    If you use IE, what does the yellow sign bottom left say?
    Mine points to the index.php which seems to be correct. :-S

    How does your navigation bar look like? Does it contain sub tabs? In the attached screenshot (6.2beta3 installation, opened with IE) there you can see the main tabs (Sales, Marketing, ...) and the sub tabs (e.g. Home, Accounts, ...). Only the sub tabs have real links pointing to the correct pages (e.g. <base url>/index.php?module=Accounts&action=index&parentTab=M arketing).

    Yes .. there are all subtabs visible on the home page. But the other subtabs under marketing, etc. don't show up.

    I can click everything on the home page though.
    I assume there is something wrong with the mouseover action.

    Do you know which file the mouseover in the nav bar relies on and which permission they need to have?

    The mouseover effect with tabs is done with the style definitions (CSS) in the theme. But if you see the correct styling of the pages there should be no problem accessing these files. Maybe there is a problem with the browser.

    Which version of IE are you using? Maybe you could try another browser to see if the behaviour is the same.

    Hmm .. so CSS should just be readable? I guess so.
    I tried IE, FF, Chrome with similar results.

    Isn't there any JS involved?
    IE threw an error - I was hoping to be able to use Sugar after solving this error - but it's a JS error in index.php - bit odd I'd say?

    There are several js files used. If you look into the page source code (HTml code) of the page you'll see multiple entries like this:
    PHP Code:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="include/javascript/sugar_grp1_yui.js?c=1">
    </script>
    Looking for all those entries you'll find all the paths to js files used by the page. Most files are located in <sugar base path>/include/javascript, some others in cache sub directories.

    I have a similar problem. Only the Sales tab is woking properly. Other tabs don't. But, if I edit the link manually in the address bar of my browser (which is Safari) I can get other tabs. It is a little bit annoying but it works. However I would like to resolve the issue properly and have the possibility of clicking on the tab name and getting the desired tab. Any help would be appreciated.

    For me, I guess it was because of namecheap.
    The problem is still not solved and according to their shared hosting, it's impossible to grant Sugar correct rights - so Sugar doesn't run on NameCheap shared plans - so far my conclusion.
