Default user assignment on objects that do not have a user

In our install, 5.0a, when a user views a lead or opp, their user name will show in the assigned to field if the record is not assigned to anyone. Is this correct behavior? Its quite confusing to the sales people...

The default of assigned to is the person who creates the record in SugarCRM.

Thanks for that. Trouble is these leads do not belong to anyone, for whatever reason - so the default doesn't really exist. So when a user browses into this unassigned lead, it shows their user name in the assigned_user field....
