Disabling listview fields of contacts

Now this i supposed to be a simple thing however i have not yet managed to do it.

I've gone through the entire studio and disabled phone from all contact modules etc but in target lists i just cant disable the display of that field. How do i do it?

ok just figured it out

from:
sugar/modules/Contacts/metadata/subpanels/default.php

i just commented out

		'phone_work'=>array (
			'name'=>'phone_work',		
			'vname' => 'LBL_LIST_PHONE',
			'width' => '15%',

However i am curious as to why i was not able to do this through the studio, my file permissions are ok i even tried with 775 on all files before hitting deploy in studio.
