Do not repeat contacts when importing

I import contacts to SugarCRM from an excel file. I have some issues with repeat entries. Would it be possible to set something up so that if a name is already present in contacts, it will not be repeated?

you have the ability to search for duplicate/existing records upon import within the import mapping screen. You can look at this link to read more about it.
