Documents corrupted after moving sugar to a new server

I had SugarCRM installed on a Linux Server at our ISP provider but network access was to slow so we decided to move it inhouse. We installed SugarCRM into a Windows 2000 Server. MySQL DB was also moved over to Windows Server and we copied the cache/upload folder from Linux serer to my new windows server. The problem is that now when trying to download an attachement or a document from sugarcrm i.e. a pdf file it downloads but can not open it. Always get error message saying file may be broken or corrupted. Any ideas?

Take a look at your Notes table via a MySQL admin utility. Find an entry that corresponds with one of the PDF files in question.

You should be able to find an entry by querying the filename column.

Once you've identified the record, note the ID column's value. Use windows explorer to navigate to \cache\upload and find the file with the matching value.

Make a copy of it and rename the copy to match the actual file name with the PDF extension and such. Try to open it.

If it doesn't work, it is possible that the copy of the \cache\upload folder from the Linux box experienced problems or it could also be a simple matter of a problem on the Windows filesystem.

Either case, this approach will allow you to determine if the problem is with Sugar or elsewhere.
