    Default Dreaded Newbie Questions!

Hi all. Just started to get into Open Sugar CRM and trying to implement it for a wireles broadband company. Because the broadband is wireless potentially new customers have to be surveyed first before they can get the service. So the idea is that all orders are logged and scheduled for a survey with Sugar and then if the survey passes the customer "upgrades" to a bonified customer rather than having to enter the order and then the customer in after an install. I mean it's virtually entering a customer twice. I am going to do a lot of research on Sugar but if anyone could tell me off hand if this senario is even possible with sugar and a few tips on how to go about implemting it I would be much appreciated. Also is it possible to modify the search fields? And the quick "Create Account" panel? Any feedback would be great. Thanks and take care.

Hi Quite a few ways to skin this cat...

One is to use leads and upgrade it to a full account after the survey. Alternatively, start of with an account and add a status-type-of custom field to record the state.

the survey could be implemented as an 'opportunity'. Normally a sales pipline but could record the survey.

The survey itself could be recorded as a document. If you want to look at the pro version - there might be a very good fit as part of the contracts module (putting a process workflow and signing state on a template document).

Also if you were to look at the pro version, the 'workflow' facility could link the survey into changing states of the accounts etc.

Lots of ways to do it and you'll need to work out the best way - but it should be in there somewhere.

Also, you can edit the search fields via the studio. The quickcreates are not editable via the studio yet but are easy to do by hand if you know to copy a bit of html.
