drop downs under opportunity

Can any one please explain all the drop downs under opportunity. if you can explain what is prospecting, qualification, closed lost etc....

There are two subsections in admin section where this can be configured:

1) "Display Module Tabs and Subpanels"
Here you can select which modules can be shown as tabs or subpanels. Hidden modules are not visible.

2) "Configure Grouped Modules"
Here you can group modules into tabs ("group") and subpanels (see screenshot). You can add new groups/tabs or remove the existing. It's your choice where and how often the modules occur. Per default some of the modules are put into multiple groups, depending on the relevance of the modules to Sales, Marketing, etc.
