Duplicate Contact through Account-Contact Relationship

I've encountered an issue which I have been unable to find any reference to in the forum. If there happens to be some thread regarding this, I would appreciate to be pointed in the right direction.

The issue:
When you assign a contact to an account, a contact which is already assigned as a contact to another account, a duplicate contact with the same ID appears in the contacts module.

This behavior is present both in 4.5.0d and 4.2.1b.
Does anybody know if this is normal behavior or is my environment perhaps in some way broken?

Setup:
Linux SLES 10 with
kernel 2.6.16.21
php5-5.1.2-29.5
mysql-5.0.18-20.5
apache2-2.2.0-21.7

SugarCRM both through upgrade path and fresh complete installs.

Could it be so that nobody has this problem except me?
I personally feel that this is rather unlikely.

Would appreciate if somebody could verify that this behavior exists / does not exist on one of their respective installations.

No it's not only you. The only way I could get around this is to remove the 'account' field from ALL 'contact' layouts. You probably will have to reference your multiple accounts with your contact another way. cheers.

I have the same problem, a duplicate entry in the contacts list but the 2 rntries are linking the same contact.
Just because somebody in my contact is working in 2 different companies.

No "official" solution ?

This problem seems our project. We want to import a few sources. And we want to find duplicate handler.
