E-Mail Functionality and Performance

I have been using the Sugar Open Source version for several months and have been very happy with what it can do even though I have on several occassions questioned the logic of certain features. I looked forward to the version upgrade to 4.50 to add some perfomance and functionality to the e-mail/campaign modules. However after the latest upgrade 4.50F, we appear to still have problems. Could you assist with the following:
1. When creating an e-mail template and using the editor it constantly crashes the browser when I select "Source"
2. Am I able to imbed html ?
3. If I can imbed html how do I do it ?
4. Again if I can do this, can I use a contact variable to personalise?
