Default Is e-mail module alpha code?

    Dear All,

I am trying to use the e-mail module interface but it just stinks. I've read about a lot of stuff that should be happening, is supposed to be able to happen but just doesn't (http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showt...t=32497&page=1).

    Tasks like:
    * Auto-associating e-mails to accounts with matching e-mail - doesn't happen,
    * created Group folder but there doesn't seem to be any functionality to it - can't delete it because it says it is attached to an inbox
    * Weird bug but annoying: When replying to an e-mail, the new composition in TinyMCE begins one space indented.

If possible I would like to help with these issues. Where do we report bugs and can we browse the source repository online?

    Cheers,
    Ryan

I also believe that the email functionality could be better but it's not that bad.

    1. Works with group folders
    2. no idea what you did, maybe you want to check your scheduler
    3. True. Report under bugs.sugarcrm.com

There is no repository to browse

Okay thanks. I'm sort of at a loss as to what group folders are. I've read here http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/index.ph...5.html#1112939 but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do with the created group folder.

I want Sugar to see that if an e-mail's sender matches an account's e-mail address, to create an email record related to that account. Same for contacts, but account would be the priority entity. How can I go about doing this?

    A few simple steps:

    1. Make your scheduler work (cron job for Linux or scheduler for Win - check the respective posts here)
    2. Go to the scheduler in Sugar (admin section) and make sure that the task "check inbound mailboxes) is active and runs every minute (just for testing puposes, later you may change the interval). The job log will tell you whether the job runs or not
    3. Create a new inbound email account under INbound Email (admin section) and assign a group folder to it (create a new one if necessary). Test the connection.
    4. For testing: assign to a contact / account an email account where you will send your test mail from. Send a mail from this account to your newly created mailbox.
    5. The mail will appear under the contact/account (or both if they have the same email address) AND in your group folder under emails (if you do not see the group folder you may have to assign it first.

    That's it...
