    Default Editing Attached Documents

Should it be possible to edit a document that has been attached as a note in a module?

We have a need when sales people create a quote and email it out (attaching into Sugar) to amend the quote XLS, as they miss off important info.

I know that editing documents, in the documents module is fine, but can we update docs that are attached?

I believe the documents open as read-only in those situations. Thus, you'd have to save the changes to a copy of the file and then relink the new file.

    Angel is right.
Attachments are meant to be read only.

However, you can open the file, make your changes and save the file to your drive.
Next, edit the note against the Contact in SugarCRM and click the 'Remove' button to remove the original attachment. Now browse to your newly edited file and re-attach it to the note.
You have basically replaced the original attachment with your edited copy.

This process will also update the last modified by user and date/time stamp on the note.

    Hi REByers,

Angel is correct. Once you attach a note attachment, it is read only. This is meant to preserve the history of the attachment when it was attached. To make changes, you would have to save to your computer and then re-attach a new note
