    Default Editing a Case

    Hi,

I have created an input page under cases which has around 20 custom fields. I then go to enter my data and all goes well, various paraments such as integer length etc function correctly. Once I save my record I can then go on and create input the next etc.

I am very new to sugar and have tried to look into this, but the problem I have is if I want to edit and update a previously created record not all of the data repopulates in the all fields; eg it askes me to reenter customer etc; the text boxes have the data visible but most of the others do not.

Can you tell me where I am going wrong. Effectively I am just trying to build a tracking database that I can go back to on a weekly or fortnightly basis and update information.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Hello Rob,
While in Studio you will see a list of Modules e.g. Bug Tracker, Calls, Campaigns, Cases etc. Expand the Cases Module then go to Layouts and expand it too. Under Edit View you will be able to see fields that are available for this module. Some are available hidden while others are available on the front-end. Drag and drop fields into the Layout then ensure that you click on Save and Deploy. This should make them available all through.

If this doesn't work, please let me know.

    Hi Reuben,

Thanks for the response; I have already created the layout in edit view with the default fields as well as my own custom fields and I am happy with the layout when I go into CReate Case. Howebver when I enter the data into the Create Case screen, save nad then go back in at a later stage to review not all the data I originally entered is visible.

Can you see my dilemma; I wany to be able to populate all the fields at Create Case, Save and then at a later date go back to that case to amend/ update the necessary fields/ info; unfortunately not all fields are retrieving the original data.

    Rob.

If it is an issue of saving, I propose you look at the roles and rights that the account you are using has. You may also try working with the admin account which has absolute rights on all tables and fields. To confirm the rights the account has go to admin then User Management. Choose the account then scroll down to confirm the rights the account has on every module.

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi,

To start with, when you fill in all the fields and press save do you see all the information in the Detail View?

If your SugarCRM is installed on a LINUX system, i suppose it's a problem of rights.

    Hi,

Another issue I had like this, was that when I created a int field and set the default value to 0 in the module builder I was unable to save anything into the field. I had to set the default value using my db editer SQLYog..
